The long hot summer is going on. Hope your summer is going well.
Have you ever experienced an unexpected event? They happen all the time, and what we make of them says much about our progress and the journey toward Christ-likeness. One of the last ones I had was a day after my sister had passed away. We were in the car going back home. My sister’s son Michael was with us and it happen so quickly. I turned on to the wrong on-ramp, and in LA that could cost you a lot of time. And that’s all it took for my hot head temper to hit. Michael was crying and Pam was telling me to slow down.
I had hated my temper all of my life. Just as quickly as it hit I offered a prayer with in. No one knew I was praying. I asked the Lord to please take this temper from me, in an instant He took it away and through it out the window, never to be seen or heard from again. There was a calm in the car. That was my unexpected event. To this day I have not lost my temper. It was the quickest answer to a prayer I have ever had. In the midst of that trial, God tapped me on the shoulder and reminded me to relax.
It was a hard time because my sister helped shape my early years. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be where I am now. KELP encourages listeners to pursue God’s best in their lives, even in the unexpected events they encounter. We’re glad that our broadcasts are part of your schedule. We pray and trust that God uses KELP to touch each different need: someone dealing with a loved one’s cancer, a father who is recently out of work, or new parents trying to corral their toddler.
I trust that as you listen, and you personally encounter the unexpected in the coming days, you’ll be able to hear what God might be saying. And may He allow you to see the beauty of His grand design and greater purposes.
What a great God we serve, who lavishes His servants with such blessing and care. I do trust you’re rejoicing today, not merely in the job you have, but in the God who is the giver of every good and perfect gift. Thank you for the gift you are to KELP, as you so faithfully serve with us shoulder to shoulder.
Enjoying the summer months,
